IRVINE, Calif. (June 28, 2018) – Orange County SC heads to Arizona Friday, June 29 as the club takes on Didier Drogba and Phoenix Rising FC at 7:30PM PT at Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. The matchup will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this regular season. Both teams are looking to take the three points, with each of the previous four meetings between the teams resulting in a draw.
 
Orange County SC heads into Friday’s match coming off of a club record-tying six goal victory over Tulsa Roughnecks FC. All six goals were scored by six different players. The first came in the 16th minute, when Jos Hooiveld headed the ball into the top corner of the net following a corner taken by Aodhan Quinn. In the 37th minute, Quinn delivered a clinical pass to Thomas Enevoldsen who detonated a shot to the back of the net to record his 9th USL goal of the season. Enevoldsen’s goal secured a tie for the lead of the USL Golden Boot award. Shortly into the second half, Jon Bakero brought home a goal for the Roughnecks when he capitalized on a failed clearance by finishing from close range. Orange County SC’s third goal of the night came when Jos Hooieveld’s shot deflected off of the top of the crossbar, setting up a Alex Crognale header from close range. In the 65th minute, Tulsa's Adrian Jusino fouled Christian Duke in the penalty area. This led to the fourth goal of the night, as Aodhan Quinn converted the penalty at the bottom right corner of the net. In the 86th minute, Duke executed a perfect pass to Amirgy Pineda who fired a shot to the bottom of the left corner to record his first professional goal. Four minutes later, Enevoldsen sent a cross to Mats Bjurman who finished at close range to score his first goal of the season.

Transaction: Orange County SC and Nansel Selbol have agreed to mutually terminate the forward’s contract on June 20, 2018.

Orange County SC’s battle against Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, June 16 ended in a 2-2 draw.  Orange County SC started the match strong when, in the first nine minutes, Thomas Enevoldsen crossed to Giovanni Ramos Godoy who narrowly missed the net to the left.  The first goal of the night for Reno 1868 FC came when Brian Brown stepped up and converted a penalty in the 55th minute, for Reno 1868 FC.  Orange County SC followed it up with a goal of their own in the 63rd minute as Aodhan Quinn played a through ball to Michael Seaton.  Seaton, squared the ball to an awaiting Thomas Enevoldsen who drilled the ball home.  Six minutes later, Orange County SC took full advantage when Reno 1868 FC conceded a corner kick.  Giovanni Ramos-Godoy a header to the far-left post for Thomas Juel-Nielsen, to tap in from close range.  In the 83rd minute, Reno leveled the match as Danny Musovski placed a ball just out of reach of Andre Rawls.

The upcoming match against Tulsa Roughnecks FC will be the second meeting between the two teams.  The first, a 5-0 victory for Orange County SC, took place on March 31 in Tulsa.  Orange County SC controlled the match from the start when Mats Burman sent a cross to Thomas Enevoldsen who headed the ball to the top corner of the net in the 15th minute.  Four minutes later, Mark Segbers passed to Richard Chaplow who took advantage of a deflection off a Roughnecks defender, putting Orange County SC up by two.  In the 29th minute, Thomas Enevoldsen scored his second of the night by slotting a ball to the bottom right corner of the net.  Orange County SC didn’t let up in the second half.  In the 77th minute, Chaplow sent a perfect cross to Enevoldsen who launched a powerful strike to the low right corner, giving Enevoldsen his first hat trick of the season.  The final goal of the night came four minutes later when Enevoldsen set up Michael Seaton.  Saturday’s match will prove entertaining for fans as Orange County SC could jump into 4th place in the Western Conference Standings and Tulsa Roughnecks FC will be looking to get their first win of the season.

(June 10, 2018) – Seven was the lucky number for Orange County SC’s Andre Rawls and Thomas Enevoldsen, as the club took all three points at StubHub Center’s Track and Field Stadium on Sunday.  Andre Rawls was undeniably the man of the match, recording his seventh shutout of the season with seven saves on the night.  Thomas Enevoldsen sealed the win with a late  goal in the 82nd minute, his seventh for the club.

A compact Orange County SC continued to apply pressure in the second half, with Rawls denying Los Dos any chance to score.  In the 57th minute, LA Galaxy II’s Miguel Aguilar fired a missle low and to the right corner but once again Rawls hunkered low to make the save. Four minutes later, Rawls saved a Ulysses Llanez Jr. attempt at the top center of the goal. In the 70th minute, Thomas Enevoldsen sent a solid pass to the right side of the penalty area for an awaiting Giovanni Ramos-Godoy who fired the shot just wide right of the post.  The only goal of the night came in the 82nd minute when Mats Bjurman sent a clinical pass to Enevolsen, whose low finish sent the ball to the bottom left corner of the net. Orange County SC left Carson with a 1-0 victory over Los Dos.

“We’ve spent a lot of effort in the past several weeks on staying as compact and organized defensively as possible,” said Cloutier. “To use that as our foundation and build out from there, that takes a lot of discipline and focus. I feel now we have a very tough team to break down both tactically and mentally.”

Irvine, Calif. (June 8, 2018) – Orange County SC are delighted to announce the signing of MLS veteran defender, Kevin Alston. He joins the club having made over 170 appearances in the MLS with New England Revolution and Orlando City SC.

“We are fortunate to acquire a player of Kevin’s caliber.  He is an experienced player who will make a significant impact to our backline,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier.

Alston, 30, started his professional career with New England Revolution where he was drafted 10th overall in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. He went on to have an extremely successful career with them making over 160 appearances during a six-year spell. In 2010, he was selected to represent the MLS All-Star team, and started against Manchester United FC in Houston. Alston was called up to the U.S. National team in 2009 against Jamaica and El Salvador.  However, injury prevented him from making his debut.

The last time these two teams met, Orange County SC dominated the match, taking three points at home in the 3-0 victory over Los Dos.  Mark Segbers recorded a brace and Nansel Selbol scored the third with a sublime finish inside the box; which was subsequently  nominated for USL goal of the week. 

Segbers scored his first professional goal in the 45th minute when Michael Seaton sent a beautifully weighted pass to Segbers who got behind the back line and sent ball right between the legs of Eric Lopez.  In the 59th minute, Koji Hashimoto sent a skillfully crafted pass to Segbers who recorded the brace.  In the 89th minute, Nansel Selbol squared up against Jonathan Hernandez, putting his foot up and around the ball up over Eric Lopez for the world-class finish in the top right corner of the met. The night saw Los Dos seeing red as defender Jean Engola was sent off in the 30th minute for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity, fouling Michael Seaton from behind.  Then in the 54th minute, midfielder Alex Mendez was sent off for putting Christian Duke in a dangerous situation when he lunged at him two cleats up.
