Orange County SC is pleased to announce the signing of forward Christian Sorto ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The El Salvador international becomes the fourth forward the Black and Orange have added this offseason.
“I’m very excited to be joining OCSC, a club with high expectations and a winning mindset,” Sorto said. “I can’t wait to get started and help the team win!”
The 23-year-old forward most recently played for The Miami FC where he made 61 appearances across all competitions in 2022 and 2023, beginning his time primarily as a substitute in 2022 before breaking in the the starting eleven regularly in 2024. Sorto scored eight goals and provided three assists during his time in The Sunshine State.
“We are delighted to welcome Christian, he is an exciting and dynamic forward who can operate in a number of positions across the front line,” OCSC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Peter Nugent said. “Despite his young age he has already amassed over 100 appearances within the USL Championship. His experience and versatility will be a valuable asset for us this season.”
Prior to joining Miami, Sorto played one season with Rio Grande Valley Toros FC in 2021. He made 30 appearances with the Toros, 25 starts, scoring four goals and tallying seven assists, helping RGVFC advance to the Quarterfinals of the 2021 USL Championship Playoffs. Sorto began his career with Loudoun United FC from 2019-2020, where he made 18 appearances for the club and scored two goals and had three assists in his time with the club. He scored his first professional goal on his professional debut against Atlanta United 2, doing so in just under three minutes after being subbed onto the pitch.
Sorto has made three appearances for the El Salvadorian National Team, with two of them coming as substitutes during CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying in 2021. The third came in a friendly at Audi Field in Washington D.C. against Peru, alongside former OCSC midfielder Eric Calvillo.
