Orange County SC announced the signing of El Paso Locomotive FC defender Andrew Fox to a multi-year contract, per league and federation approval. The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the leading center backs in the USL Championship over the past four seasons.
“I am delighted to be an Orange County player,” Fox said. “I look forward to getting started and am committed to helping the club succeed both on and off the pitch.”
Fox is the first of what is expected to be many new signings for the club. The Huntingdon, England native has made 86 USL Championship appearances, all with El Paso, tallying six goals and three assists. Three of those six goals came last season, including the match winner against his new club in the penultimate match of the 2022 season. Prior to his time with El Paso, Fox played in the English football league with Peterborough United, Stevenage F.C. and Grimsby Town F.C.
“We are delighted to bring Andrew Fox, a first-class professional, to Orange County”, said Oliver Wyss Orange County SC President of Soccer Operations. ”Andrew’s overall quality and experience in this league will have an immediate impact on our team on and off the field.”
“Andrew is a player I’ve always held a lot of admiration for,” OCSC head coach Richard Chaplow said. “He ticks all the boxes you want in a defender. He’s aggressive, mobile and composed on the ball. I’m looking forward to getting him in the building and implementing him into our group.”
Fox brings a veteran presence to the Orange County squad. One that has not only played in the USL Championship and knows the grind of a long season, but also has experience playing under the bright lights and the pressure of the playoffs. He scored the first Conference Final goal in El Paso history in 2019 in a 2-1 a.e.t defeat to Real Monarchs SC.
