The Orange County Soccer Club Community Foundation announced today a $20,000 cash and in-kind donation to support local military families through multiple sports and educational initiatives on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base.
These initiatives further the OCSC Community Foundation’s efforts at Camp Pendleton, which began last year with its donation to the Power Up for Success event on base, organized by the Working Wardrobes VetNet Program. That event included an all-day training curriculum to provide local service members with the practical tools and skills they need to find meaningful employment when transitioning from military to civilian life.
“The OCSC Community Foundation recognizes and greatly appreciates the vital role that our active-duty personnel and veterans play in our community. We are honored to be able to donate our time and funds to support this essential community and their families,” said Lisa Keston, Executive Director, OCSC Community Foundation.
On Saturday September 24th, OCSC and OCSC Community Foundation coaches, professional players, and staff will be on base for a full day of soccer activities, featuring a soccer camp for children of military families ages 6-16 and an all-day adult soccer tournament. All participants will receive free tickets for OCSC’s Military Appreciation Night, taking place at OCSC’s October 1st game, where OCSC will honor active-duty military personnel and veterans. The winners of the adult tournament will be recognized on the field at halftime. Additional complimentary tickets will be provided to Camp Pendleton to distribute.
Military Appreciation Night will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at home against San Diego Loyal at 7:00 p.m. at Championship Soccer Stadium at the Great Park in Irvine.
