Ahead of their 2022 USL Championship season opener, Orange County SC has announced the signings of goalkeeper Colin Shutler and defender Hunter Gorskie, pending league and federation approval.
Shutler, 23, made 10 appearances in 2021 between the sticks for former USL League One side North Texas SC, which was the former club of current OCSC forward and 2021 USL Championship Final MVP Ronaldo Damus. The young goalkeeper was drafted by FC Dallas with the 48th selection of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
The Middleburg, VA native played four seasons with the Virginia Cavaliers where he was named to the All-ACC First Team as well as First Team All-American by multiple media outlets. During college, Shutler featured for NPSL side Northern Virginia United. He will join OCSC goalkeeper Patrick Rakovsky as the other shot-stopper for Head Coach Richard Chaplow’s defense.
Gorskie, 30, is an experienced defender and has played professionally across four different countries. During 2021, Gorskie played north of the border with FC Edmonton in the Canadian Premier League where he made 26 appearances.
Hailing from Marlboro Township, NJ, Gorskie played his collegiate soccer in California with the Stanford Cardinal. He broke through the professional ranks with former NASL juggernauts New York Cosmos and won the 2013 NASL Soccer Bowl in his first season. After winning the 2015 NASL Soccer Bowl, Gorskie joined Polish side Miedz Legnica for two seasons.
Gorskie returned stateside where he joined the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL for two seasons before moving back to Europe with Danish outfit Thisted FC. He joined Loudoun United in their inaugural USL Championship season and San Antonio FC in 2020 where he donned the captain’s armband for nearly half of his appearances.
OCSC is set to open the USL Championship season with a road trip to The Centennial State to face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, March 12 at 5:00 PM PT. The defending champions will unveil their 2021 title banner during Saturday, March 19th’s home opener against Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at Championship Soccer Stadium at 7:00 PM PT.
