IRVINE, Calif. (April 25, 2018) – Orange County SC are back in Texas tonight as they go head-to-head against Rio Grande Valley FC. With four consecutive wins, the club holds steady in second place of the Western Conference standings.
Orange County SC’s most recent victory came at the expense of San Antonio FC on Saturday, April 14th. With eight saves and earning four consecutive shutouts, it was goal keeper Andre Rawls who earned USLSoccer.com’s Man of the Match and second place in the USL Team of the Week (Week 5). Impressive goals by midfielder Koji Hashimoto and forwards Thomas Enevlodsen and Giovanni Godoy launched Orange County SC to a three nil victory over San Antonio.
Tonight’s match will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season. Last season saw Orange County SC come out on top with a 1-1 draw on July 19, followed by a 4-0 win at home against the Toros on July 22. Coming off of three consecutive losses, RGV FC will look to get their first win of the season. Tonight’s match will be streamed on the new ESPN+ network. Orange County SC returns home to battle Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at the Championship Soccer Stadium at the Orange County Great Park on Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 PM (PST). Fans attending Saturday’s match will also have the opportunity to join forces with Orange County SC, Soccer For Hope and Be The Match as they team up to find a bone marrow match for 5-month-old Bruno Lara. Bruno was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare immunodeficiency disease, HLH. Fans in attendance will be able to register for the bone marrow registry to help save a life.
