Orange County SC looks to bounce back against Northern California foe Monterey Bay FC on Foundation Night at The Champ on Saturday, April 27 at 7:00 PM PDT. These two sides are currently battling for positions amongst the West’s Top Five, so points will be at a premium on Saturday.
CRISP OFFENSE ON THE COAST
Monterey Bay FC come to town in 2nd place in the USL Championship Western Conference. The Crisp and Kelp have scored the most goals of any side in the West through seven matches in 2024. After narrowly missing out on the playoffs in 2023, MBFC then lost the services of club captain Hugh Roberts, who returned to USL League One side Charlotte Independence this past offseason, and joint top goal contributor forward Christian Volesky, they have turned to forward Alex Dixon and new signing forward Tristian Trager. Trager’s four goals and Dixon’s two goal contributions have MBFC on the doorstep of the West’s top spot, while sporting the best offense in the conference.

ANCHORING THE FOUNDATION
Orange County SC suffered their first defeat in a 2-0 loss to Sacramento Republic FC at home last Saturday. Now, Orange County SC is back to the drawing board to get back to winning ways. The good news is, OCSC has weapons all over the pitch it can turn to in order to right the ship. The Black and Orange have eleven different players with a goal contribution this year, including three players with multiple, forwards Thomas Amang, Cameron Dunbar and midfielder Brian Iloski, who leads the team with three goal contributions. Last year, a 3-1 win over MBFC at The Champ sparked a run where the Black and Orange went on to win eight of their next 10 matches (8-1-1). A positive result on Saturday going into a bye week could be just what the doctor ordered.
